Animal cruelty?

Yes, I think animal cruelty should have stiffer penalties. I have 2 dogs and love them to pieces. They're completely spoiled rotten. It breaks my heart when I see those dog cop shows where people have been neglectful of their animals. If they don't want the pet, fine....but don't KEEP it and torture it by not feeding it or by keeping it chained up! It's just so sad. In fact, I really can't watch those shows because my husband doesn't like how it makes me so emotional and sad. I think there should be a RANGE in the penalties though. The minimum should be a very stiff fine with probation meaning an animal cruelty officer would visit unexpectedly to make sure you're still caring for the animal. I think the 3 strike policy with this would be perfect. Then you have HORRIBLE cases of animal cruelty, such as dog fighting or horrible cases of abuse and for those, there should be mandatory jail time.
